My wife thought this was a stupid idea.

“What exactly does that mean, anyway?”

So don't feel bad if you're asking the same question.  Sure, we've all heard the talk about “left-brain” accountants vs. right-brain artists, but perhaps never gave much thought to it.

Neither did I, until I attempted to enter the predominantly analytical and left-brain world of internet marketing.

I tried nearly two dozen programs, ebooks, and systems before realizing that most of these (those that weren't outright scams) were really geared towards a majority of the popluation, i.e. the left-brain dominant types.  Tasks were analytical, marketing was logical, and creativity seemed to be something that professional marketers went to as a last resort. 

I finally determined that there had to be a way to get into this business by maximizing the utilization of my natural abilities and downplaying my weaknesses. 

So I experimented, thought it through, hunted some down, and of course applied some of my own creativity to come up with what you see now. 

But you're still wondering why?  Here are a few reasons:


  1. Right-brain dominant or even right-brain leaning individuals tend towards the creative, right?  They tend to be idea people.  Well, why should marketing be any different?  Aren't we the most intrigued by the creative commercials on television and radio?  Right-brained people are naturals at calling attention to themselves.  We have a natural advantage in a medium like the internet.  With so many marketers relying on dull and crass ad copy with garish red bold highlights, can't the right-brain intellect come up with something a little more appealing?
  2. Right-brain dominant people are better suited towards a life online as it allows them to work and live in ways they see fit without the hassle of reporting every activity to the “suits.”  After she has achieved some success, the right-brained internet marketer also is freed up to work on her art/music/dance without distraction.
  3. We can finally show our old high school classmates that they truly were wasting their time in calculus class. 
  4. We're better looking.

All right.  That last one's debatable.

So why in the past few years that internet marketing has risen to prominence haven't we taken advantage of it?  I have a few ideas on the subject:

  • Creative people tend to lock themselves into a mindset that says “I'm not a business person.”  Or, “I could never sell anything.”  Or even “I'm FAR ABOVE that sort of thing.  Leave that to the burguoise pigs--I'm an ARTIST!”
  • An online business has the same (what we see as) drawbacks as any other business:  bookkeeping, cost/benefit analyses, return on investment - everything we scorned our left-brained brethren for. 
  • We just know that somewhere along the line, it's going to entail the use of a (shudder!) spreadsheet.

As you browse through the site, you'll find that many of these things can be overcome, sourced out, or ignored entirely if you choose the right methods to start with.  Under INSIGHT, you'll find a number of articles detailing some of the types of internet marketing out there.  Not only do you get an overview, I'll tell you how appealing it is to the right-brained individual.

I've also reviewed several of the programs I've been involved in personally.  Now if you're looking for politically correct commentary, go somewhere else.  I've been through some good, and quite a bit of bad and I'm not shy with my opinion.  If it's bad, I'll let you know in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS.

As for the good, I'll let you know that too; I'll even recommend a couple of them (those are the REALLY good)!
